Obama Lied and Babies Died!


McCain-Palin campaign manager Rick Davis has accused Hussein Obama of lying to the American people about his true affiliation with ACORN.

The allegation came in reaction to court testimony Wednesday from a former employee of an ACORN affiliate disclosing the organization’s ties to the Obama campaign.

ACORN, the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now, has come under intense fire for, among other things, registering folks who don’t exist. The FBI is investigating its voter registration efforts in several states amid allegations that almost one-third of the 1.3 million registration cards it turned in are invalid.

The testimony of the former worker for an ACORN affiliate “proves Barack Obama is guilty of lying to the American people about his relationship with ACORN,” Davis said.

“At the last presidential debate, in front of 60 million people, Barack Obama said his campaign was not involved with ACORN.

“We now know that Barack Obama’s campaign was working hand-in-glove with an organization reportedly under investigation by the FBI and in more than a dozen states.

“In addition to funneling $832,000 to ACORN for get-out-the-vote efforts, the Obama campaign and ACORN have been sharing donor lists, encouraging maxed-out Obama donors to contribute to this unethical organization.”

Davis based his latest charge on the court testimony of Anita Moncrief, a former employee of ACORN sister organization Project Vote.

She testified in a Pennsylvania court on Wednesday that the organization was provided a donor list from Obama’s presidential in late 2007 for fundraising efforts.

Moncrief, a former Washington, D.C., staffer for Project Vote, said her supervisor acknowledged that the list of contributors came from the Obama campaign, according to a report in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Moncrief said she has a copy of a development plan that outlines how Obama contributors who had maxed out under federal contribution limits would be targeted to give to Project Vote, and that it was her job to identify such contributors.

She testified further that ACORN and Project Vote are virtually identical.

During the Oct. 15 Presidential debate, here is what Obama said about his ties to ACORN:

“Now, with respect to ACORN, ACORN is a community organization. Apparently what they’ve done is they were paying people to go out and register folks, and apparently some of the people who were out there didn’t really register people, they just filled out a bunch of names. It had nothing to do with us.

“We were not involved. The only involvement I’ve had with ACORN was I represented them alongside the U.S. Justice Department in making Illinois implement a motor voter law that helped people get registered at DMVs.”

Moncrief testified in connection with a case the state’s Republican Party brought, seeking Project Vote’s registration lists.

ACORN’s quality-control efforts were “minimal or nonexistent,” she said, adding that she was distressed by ACORN’s “Muscle for Money” Program, which she claimed intimidated businesses ACORN opposed into paying “protection” money in the form of grants, Wall Street Journal columnist John Fund disclosed.

Moncrief joined Project Vote in 2005 and was fired early this year over personal expenses she had put on the organization’s credit card.

“Anyone [at ACORN] who questioned what was going on was viewed as the enemy,” she told Fund.

“Just like the mob, no one leaves ACORN happily.”

Laus Deo!


One detail that is never mentioned is that in Washington , D.C. there can never be a
building of greater height than the Washington Monument .

With all the uproar about removing the ten commandments, etc., this is worth a moment or two of your time. I was not aware of this amazing historical information.

On the aluminum cap, atop the Washington Monument in Washington , D.C. , are displayed two words: Laus Deo.

No one can see these words. In fact, most visitors to the monument are totally unaware they are even there and for that matter, probably couldn't care less.

Once you know Laus Deo's history , you will want to share this with everyone you know. These words have been there for many years; they are 555 feet, 5.125 inches high, perched atop the monument, facing skyward to the Father of our nation, overlooking the 69 square miles which comprise the District of Columbia, capital of the United States of America.

Laus Deo! Two seemingly insignificant, unnoticed words. Out of sight and, one might think, out of mind, but very meaningfully placed at the highest point over what is the most powerful city in the most successful nation in the world.

So, what do those two words, in Latin, composed of just four syllables and only seven letters, possibly mean? Very simply, they say 'Praise be to God!'

Though construction of this giant obelisk began in 1848, when James Polk was President of the United States , it was not until 1888 that the monument was inaugurated and opened to the public. It took twenty-five years to finally cap the memorial with a tribute to the Father of our nation, Laus Deo'Praise be to God!'

From atop this magnificent granite and marble structure, visitors may take in the beautiful panoramic view of the city with its division into four major segments. From that vantage point, one can also easily see the original plan of the designer, Pierre Charles l'Enfant ..a perfect cross imposed upon the landscape, with the White House to the north. The Jefferson Memorial is to the south, the Capitol to the east and the Lincoln Memorial to the west.

A cross you ask? Why a cross? What about separation of church and state? Yes, a cross; separation of church and state was not, is not, in the Constitution. So, read on. How interesting and, no doubt, intended to carry a profound meaning for those who bother to notice.

Praise be to God! Within the monument itself are 898 steps and 50 landings. As one climbs the steps and pauses at the landings the memorial stones share a message. On the 12th Landing is a prayer offered by the City of Baltimore; on the 20th is a memorial presented by some Chinese Christians; on the 24th a presentation made by Sunday School children from New York and Philadelphia quoting Proverbs 10:7, Luke 18:16 and Proverbs 22:6. Praise be to God!

When the cornerstone of the Washington Monument was laid on July 4th, 1848 deposited within it were many items including the Holy Bible presented by the Bible Society. Praise be to God! Such was the discipline, the moral direction, and the spiritual mood given by the founder and first President of our unique democracy 'One Nation, Under God.'

I am awed by Washington's prayer for America. Have you ever read it? Well, now is your unique opportunity, so read on!

'Almighty God; We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy holy protection; that Thou wilt incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government; and entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow citizens of the United States at large. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation .. Grant our supplication, we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.'

Laus Deo! When one stops to observe the inscriptions found in public places all over our nation's capitol, he or she will easily find the signature of God, as it is unmistakably inscribed everywhere you look. You may forget the width and height of 'Laus Deo', it's location, or the architects but no one who reads this will be able to forget its meaning, or these words: 'Unless the Lord builds the house its builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.' (Psalm 127: 1)

It is hoped you will send this to every child you know; to every sister, brother, father, mother or friend. They will not find offense, because you have given them a lesson in history that they probably never learned in our secular humanist public school systems or from the Marxist/Socialist Politicians now who now appear to be invading Washington. With that, be not ashamed, or afraid, but have pity on those who will never see this because someone failed to send it on.

50 U. S. Bishops: "No to Obama!"

The Tablet has an interesting article by Rocco Palmo claiming that 50 U.S. Bishops - about one fourth of the total - have said that the most important issue for Catholics when voting should be abortion.

A quarter of America's bishops have said that the most important issue for voters in the forthcoming presidential election is abortion - comments that may help boost the fortunes of Republican candidate John McCain.

Some 50 out of the nation's 197 active bishops have published articles or given interviews during the run-up up to the election urging abortion as the key issue on which voters should decide which way to vote. ...

Bishop Robert Hermann of St. Louis, for example, wrote in St. Louis Review, that "the issue of life is the most basic issue and must be given priority over the issue of the economy, the issue of war or any other issue."

He said "Saving our children or killing our children. This is the overriding issue facing each of us. All other issues ... have to take second place to the issue of life."

As I've been saying all along, the other issues are important, but the killing of approximately 1 million children a year trumps the others.

Some Hussein Obama Staffers Pull Their Bogus Ohio Ballots

Thirteen campaign workers for Barack Obama yesterday yanked their voter registrations and ballots in Ohio after being warned by a prosecutor that temporary residents can't vote in the battleground state.

A dozen staffers - including Obama Ohio spokeswoman Olivia Alair and James Cadogan, who recently joined Team Obama - signed a form letter asking the Franklin County elections board to pull their names from the rolls.

The letter - a copy of which was obtained by, a Fox News affiliate - came a day after prosecutor Ron O'Brien publicly urged out-of-state campaign workers for both Obama and John McCain to "examine your conscience" before the elections board beings begins opening absentee ballots today.

Earlier in the week, O'Brien spoke with lawyers for both camps and urged them to make sure their staffs met permanent-residency rules, or face possible felony charges.

Also pulling his ballot yesterday was Hofstra University grad Jake Smith, an Obama volunteer who had voted in Knox County, Ohio.

On Thursday, O'Brien cut a deal with 13 out-of-staters, including four from New York, who tossed out their already-cast ballots and admitted they didn't meet residency requirements.

Indiana warns counties of bogus voting applications

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ The International Brotherhood of Teamsters sent out more than 10,000 absentee voting applications to its Indiana members on forms that state officials say do not comply with state law, a union spokesman said Thursday.

Union press secretary Galen Munroe said a person from one of its vendors got permission from someone at the Indiana Election Division to recreate the application forms and distribute them. But Pam Potesta, co-director of the Election Division, said nobody in the agency said they gave such permission.

The forms had the address of the Election Division as the place to send the applications to receive an absentee ballot by mail. Division officials said they had received between 30 to 40 such forms in recent days and forwarded them to election boards in the counties where the voters live. The county boards are in charge of processing them.

State officials said Thursday that the forms can be sent to either the state or counties, but when the state receives them, it forwards them to the counties.

Secretary of State Todd Rokita and the Election Division sent a memo to election officials in all counties showing them an example of one of the unauthorized forms and citing a code in state law saying they should be rejected.

The memo urged county officials to contact people who had submitted such a form and tell them they must submit a properly approved form. It said besides approved forms available in the county election offices, they could refer people to the Web site

It is common for state parties or candidates to send out absentee voter applications to people, and they can be on smaller forms such as the ones sent by the Teamsters. But Potesta said they must be approved by the Indiana Election Commission and have all the information on the two official state forms it has authorized.

Potesta said the forms the Teamsters said they had sent out were not approved and did not include such things as the state seal, revision dates and code citations.

Indiana Democratic Party Chairman Dan Parker asked Rokita to investigate the matter Wednesday after receiving reports that St. Joseph County had received some questionable applications. He said one red flag was that the form said it should be sent to the Election Division, when it should actually be sent to the local county election board.

State officials said Thursday the forms could be sent to either place.

Parker said he was concerned that some people would send in the false applications, never receive an absentee ballot and be unable to vote on Election Day Nov. 4.

The deadline for county election boards to receive absentee voting applications is by the end of their business day Monday if the forms are mailed or delivered in person, said Leslie Barnes, the Election Division's Democratic co-counsel. People have until midnight Monday to fax the forms.

She said it would not be a good idea to mail forms to the Election Division at this point, because they might not be forwarded to the county office in time.

It was unclear why the election division received only 30 to 40 of the unauthorized forms when the Teamsters said it distributed them to more than 10,000 Indiana members. State officials suggested that some people might have sent them to the county offices instead, or realized they were not official.

Rita Glenn, the St. Joseph County clerk, said earlier this week that she had received six of the forms and questioned their validity.

The South Bend Tribune reported Thursday that it had contacted two people who mailed in the forms, and they said they thought they originated from the Teamsters.

Clarence Eichorst of South Bend told the newspaper he received the form in the mail. Ann Selesky of South Bend, whose husband, Ralph, mailed in an invalid form, said the mailing had the Teamsters name on it. Both men are members of the Teamsters.

Munroe, the Teamsters spokesman, confirmed that those two forms were sent by the Teamsters, and said more than 10,000 others were distributed in Indiana.

Munroe said he thought the Teamsters had done their due diligence to ensure the forms were valid. He said the mailer was an effort to get their members excited about voting. Knowingly sending out bogus forms would not make sense, he said, because it could disenfranchise the union's own members.

He said the forms were created under the impression that they were done so with state permission.

"We feel that if our members are being disenfranchised, it is by the state," he said.

He said the union planned to call all its Indiana members and tell them to use a state-approved form.

Munroe said the union "did similar work" with mailers in Georgia, New Mexico, Ohio and Washington and had not heard of any problems in those states.

Fox News denies negotiating over ‘Michelle Obama tapes’

As doubts grow, African Press insists recordings to be released before Nov. 4

Fox News flatly denies it is engaged in any negotiations with African Press International, the Norway-based website that claims to have embarrassing recordings of Michelle Obama and which has announced to the world that it is working with the popular cable news channel.

API has promised on its website that tapes of Michelle Obama’s alleged conversation with the agency will be released by the Nov. 4 election.

In a statement to WND after Fox’s denial, API said, “We cannot force any one to believe us. We have put the notice out there and we do not put out things we do not know to be true and if you need to know more talk to our attorney in the U.S.”

That attorney, Philip J. Berg, who is coincidentally pursuing a court challenge over Barack Obama’s birthplace, has not responded to WND e-mails and telephone messages on the dispute.

A Fox official who requested anonymity said there simply were no negotiations with API over any tapes or any other issue.

API originally reported Michelle Obama contacted the agency to scold its reporters.

“African Press International is supposed to support Africans and African-American view,” she supposedly said, according to API’s report. “It is strange that API has chosen to support the racists against my husband. There is no shame in being adopted by a stepfather. All dirt has been thrown onto my husband’s face and yet he loves this country. My husband and I know that there is no law that will stop him from becoming the president, just because some American white racists are bringing up the issue of my husband’s adoption by his stepfather. The important thing here is where my husband’s heart is at the moment. I can tell the American people that my husband loves this country and his adoption never changed his love for this country. He was born in Hawaii, yes, and that gives him all the right to be an American citizen even though he was adopted by a foreigner.”

Michelle Obama’s “comments” allegedly referenced concerns expressed over her husband’s move from Hawaii to Indonesia as a child and his life with an Indonesian stepfather, including his attendance at a school where he was involved in Quranic studies.

API also reported that it asked Michelle Obama to comment on the detention of WND senior investigative reporter Jerome Corsi during his recent visit to Kenya, where he was investigating the presidential candidate’s links to controversial strongman Raila Odinga, now serving as prime minister.

“When API asked Mrs. Obama to comment on why Dr. Corsi was arrested by the Kenyan government and whether she thought Kenya’s prime minister, Mr. Raila Odinga, was involved in Dr. Corsi’s arrest, she got irritated and simply told API not to dig [into] that which will support evil people who are out to stop her husband from getting the presidency,” the publication reported.

After the Obama campaign denied the interview ever happened, API responded by stating it had recorded the conversation and would release the recording in a few days. Then it claimed it was having a lawyer review its position and that the tapes would be available after that review. Still later, API claimed it was working with Berg and negotiating with Fox over the release of the tapes, and that the tapes would be available soon. It’s latest claim is that the tapes will be released before the Nov. 4 presidential election


After the initial API report, Tommy Vietor, an Obama campaign spokesman, told National Review’s Byron York the conversation didn’t happen.

“The answer is no, it’s not real, the report is made up. She did not speak to the organization,” Vietor said, according to York’s report on National Review Online’s blog “The Corner.”

However, Jeff Schreiber of America’s Right blog said he’s contacted Berg and was assured the tapes probably existed.

“I asked Philip Berg, via e-mail, whether or not he thought the API/Michelle Obama tapes were real and whether they would in fact be released within the next day or so as Chief Editor Korir maintains,” Schreiber wrote.

“His answer was simple… ‘Yes,’” Schreiber reported.

WND has repeatedly requested that API release the supposed audio recordings, without results.

As API continues to put the release date for its purported “Michelle Obama tapes” farther and farther out, doubts about the organization’s credibility and claims continue to grow. Among the opinions expressed by news forum page participants about API:

“A wonderful lesson in Scamming 101.”
“Just what is happening?”
“Stop this now. Produce the tapes or shut up.”
“Either play the tapes unedited or stop this hoax.”
“I find this article hard to believe without audio recording to back it up.”
“This story is a huge farce.”
“The hoax continues.”

Democratic vice president candidate Sen. Joe Biden has created a furor in the 2008 election with his implication to a crowd of deep-pocket donors that presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama's lack of experience would create an appearance of weakness that would encourage opponents to challenge the United States.

But he was only repeating what Obama himself said not that much earlier, as the presidential candidate was preparing to serve the first day of the Senate term he's now a little more than halfway through.

According to news reports, Biden told the crowd of donors, "Mark my words: It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy.

"The world is looking. We’re about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Watch, we're going to have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy," Biden said.

"He's going to have to make some really tough – I don't know what the decision's going to be, but I promise you it will occur. As a student of history and having served with seven presidents, I guarantee you it's going to happen," Biden said.

Obama himself had expressed the opinion that he wasn't qualified to run for the presidency after he was elected to the U.S. Senate from Illinois in late 2004, less than four years ago. His statements have been preserved so far on a YouTube video, which can be seen here:

Franciscan University of Steubenville Vocations Awareness Day

STEUBENVILLE, OH–More than 100 religious communities and dioceses from across the United States and abroad will send vocations directors to participate in Franciscan University of Steubenville’s annual Vocations Awareness Day, which is one of the largest vocation fairs in the nation.

The event, sponsored by the Pre-Theologate Program and Chapel Ministries, will be held on Friday, October 24, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Finnegan Fieldhouse. It is free and open to the public. Afterward, a 4:45 p.m. Mass in Christ the King Chapel will be celebrated for those discerning religious life or the priesthood.

Last year’s Vocations Awareness Day attracted about 800 attendees. University and high school students, home school families, and local individuals took advantage of the opportunity to meet with vocations directors, ask questions, and learn about their unique missions and charisms.

Some of this year’s orders include: Franciscans of the Third Order Regular, Dominican Order of Preachers, Carmelite friars and nuns from California, Washington, and Oklahoma, Benedictine monks, Marians of the Immaculate Conception, Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia, School Sisters of St. Francis, and sisters from Madrid, who are especially seeking Franciscan University education or Spanish majors to teach in Spain. Religious directors from many dioceses across the U.S. will also be present.

Father Ken Cienik, SA, director of the Pre-Theologate Program, encourages the public to attend. He says this is a great opportunity to encounter “a wide variety of religious orders and dioceses at one time and to discern if one might be right for you.”

Averting a Crisis in Confidence; Citizen files Lawsuit Against Washington Secretary of State Sam Reed demanding verification of Barack Obama’s citizenship status.

Seattle WA. 10/9/2008 — Steven Marquis, a resident of Fall City WA today filed suit in Washington State Superior Court against Secretary of State Sam Reed demanding verification of Barack Obama’s citizenship status.

The complaint seeks specifically that the office of the Washington Secretary of State verify and certify that Mr. Obama is or is not a "natural born" citizen by producing original or certified verifiable official documents. The lawsuit argues that this certification should take place before the election to preclude a constitutional crisis and likely civil unrest should such certification, after the election, prove that Mr. Obama was not qualified for office.

The Complaint argues that the Secretary of State has the authority and duty to not only certify the voters but also and most importantly the candidates and in so doing prevent the wholesale disenfranchisement of voters who would had had an opportunity to choose from qualified candidates had the certification preceded the election process.

At this point, Mr. Obama has not allowed independent or official access to his birth records nor supporting hospital records. The Hawaii Health Department has violated Federal law by ignoring formal Freedom of Information requests for the same. Due to the facts and numerous other allegations that would challenge Mr. Obama’s fundamental qualifications for office, a Federal lawsuit was filed and is currently being heard in District Court, Pennsylvania.

Mr. Obama failed to respond to the District Court’s request to produce or allow access to the official documents (should they exist) and instead filed a motion to dismiss arguing the Plaintiff had no “standing” or right to know. This non-response as of 9/24/2008 in Federal court casts doubt on the veracity of the electoral system and is the principal reason for this lawsuit. The late entry of this suit is due in principal part to Mr. Obama’s delay and subsequent non response to reasonable request for valid certificates. Multiple requests for early certification to the Office of the Secretary of State has been rejected.

[clarification: The district court process itself demands a response from Mr. Obama. When a complaint is filed, the defendant has an opportunity to respond to the judge regarding the plaintiffs request for a preliminary injunction. Obama did respond, but not with the requested documentation, not even minimally so. He responded with a motion for dismissal based on “standing” rather than the merits of the case]

The Washington Secretary of State Office is specifically charged with certifying and guaranteeing the veracity of official documents and overseeing the elections to wit the people’s confidence in the fundamental aspect of democracy is maintained. To date, in this regard, Secretary of State Sam Reed has not carried out that fundamental duty.

This lawsuit demands injunctive relief directing Sam Reed, Secretary of State, carry out the duty of his office in this regard answering the formal complaints for verification of Mr. Obama and any other candidate appearing on the ballots issues through his office for which formal complaints have been received.

RICO Lawsuit Filed Against ACORN

Dan Spencer reports that in Ohio, a state Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) lawsuit was against the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). The lawsuit alleges ACORN has engaged in a pattern of corrupt activity that amounts to organized crime. It seeks ACORN's dissolution as a legal entity, the revocation of any licenses in Ohio, and an injunction against fraudulent voter registration and other illegal activities.

According to the press release, Plaintiffs Jennifer Miller of Mason, Ohio and Kimberly Grant of Loveland, allege that ACORN's actions deprive them of the right to participate in an honest and effective elections process:

They allege fraudulent voter registrations submitted by ACORN dilute the votes of legally registered voters.

"The right to cast a vote that is not diluted by fraudulent votes is a fundamental individual right," Buckeye Institute President David Hansen said.

"ACORN appears to be recklessly disregarding Ohio laws and adding thousands of fraudulent voters to the state's roles in the process," Maurice Thompson, Director of the Buckeye Institute's 1851 Center for Constitutional Law said. "Such voter fraud erodes the value of legally cast votes," he added.

In the complaint, Thompson cites an accumulation of evidence showing numerous instances of admitted fraud by ACORN employees, as well as individuals solicited by ACORN.

"In light of its hiring, training and compensation practices, ACORN should have known its conduct would cause fraud," Thompson said. "It also should know that its conduct will cause fraud in the future."

In addition, the complaint cites conduct by ACORN in Colorado, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.

U.S. Bishops To Ponder Excommunication Of Pro-Abortion Ligislators


Bishop Gerald Kicanas of Tucson, vice president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, revealed in an interview with John Allen on Monday that the US bishops will discuss in November whether voting for pro-abortion legislation entails automatic excommunication. ‘I think there are several issues’ to be discussed, Bishop Kicanas said. ‘One is, what is the level of cooperation involved in a legislator voting for legislation that encourages, or allows, intrinsically evil acts? Is that formal cooperation, or isn’t it? That’s a critical question, because if it is formal cooperation, then serious consequences flow from it.’ When Allen asked, ‘You mean automatic excommunication?’ Bishop Kicanas answered, ‘Right. That’s one question that has not been answered.’ Bishop Kicanas made clear there was no consensus in the conference about that issue or about the related issue of withholding Holy Communion from pro-abortion Catholic politicians.

If Barack Obama wins this election, there will be absolutely no dobt whatsoever that one of the things that will help push him over the top is massive Democrat vote fraud. It'll make the Democrats that stole the 1960 JFK/Nixon election for Kennedy look like pikers. One example of this massive vote fraud is in the amazing fact that there are now more registered voters in Indianapolis than are actually eligible to vote. News at 11? How about no news at all.

Oh, sure, there have been stories in the media in Indiana covering the vote fraud issue. But almost to a report they are covered as mere charge and counter charge and end up making the GOP look as if they are engaged in just the normal partisan bickering. But no one is reporting the true nature of this vote fraud.

WANE, TV 15 out of Fort Wayne, for instance, reported on a visit to that city by Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita (R) who was there to talk about voter fraud. In Lake County, IN, the GOP is accusing the Democrats of vote fraud, but the report does not reveal any further details.

The Indianapolis Star, though, had more to say on the issue in an October 7 piece about early voting. After quoting exultant officials about how wonderful it was to see so many new voters registering, the Star had this to say about the Indy area.

In the county, 677,401 voters were registered as of Monday evening; that number was expected to continue growing as last-minute registrations are entered into the system. In 2004, the county had 602,918 registered voters.

Ed Treacy, Marion County Democratic Party chairman, said the campaign of presidential candidate Barack Obama brought in as many as 12,000 new registrations over the weekend alone.

"We've never seen anything like it," Treacy said.

How exciting, eh?

And now to the dull math, so dull that the Indy Star didn't seem disposed to undertake the effort. Paul K. Ogden, however, helpfully breaks out his calculator for the edification of the press.

According to STATSIndiana, In 2007, Indianapolis/Marion County had an estimated population of 876,804. Of that number 232,607 were below 18 years of age, for a total of 644,197 people in Marion County/Indianapolis 18 or over and thus eligible to vote. (Indiana allows felons to vote as long as they are not incarcerated).

So we have 644,197 people eligible to be registered in Marion County/Indianapolis, and 677,401 people registered. Congratulations go to Indianapolis for having 105% of its residents registered!

There are more registered voters than eligible ones in the capitol city? And the media are not all over this?

One has to wonder why the media doesn't connect these dots? Yes it's all well and good that voters might be excited to participate in this historic election. But, not to notice these suspicious numbers of voters seems a bit out of character for a medium claiming to be a "news" source, doesn't it?

Well, it does if you don't imagine that the media wants to give cover to the Democrat's illegal activities, of course.

Oh, and is ACORN, Barack Obama's favorite fraud immersed "community organizer," involved? Well, you tell me? Maybe we can give their Indy offices a call and ask?

The Supreme Court's onetime wide majority in favor of abortion rights has shrunk to one: Justice John Paul Stevens, who is 88. Now the decision's fate may depend on who becomes the next president.

WASHINGTON -- Every four years, defenders of abortion rights proclaim that the fate of Roe vs. Wade hangs on the outcome of the presidential election.

This year, they may be right.

Through most of the 1990s and until recently, the Supreme Court had a solid 6-3 majority in favor of upholding the right of a woman to choose abortion. But the margin has shrunk to one, now that Justice Sandra Day O'Connor is retired and has been replaced by Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr.

And Justice John Paul Stevens, a leader of the narrow majority for abortion rights, is 88.

"Clearly, Roe is on the line this time," said Indiana University law professor Dawn Johnsen, a former lawyer for NARAL Pro-Choice America. "It is quite clear they have four votes against it. If the next president appoints one more, the odds are it will be overruled."

Some advocates worry that the perennial cries of "Roe is falling" has had the effect of muting such claims.

"What we find scary is that people don't understand what's at stake," said Kathryn Kolbert, president of People for the American Way. "In the next four years, one to as many as three Supreme Court justices may step down, and they all will come from the liberal end of the court."

But that doesn't mean abortion or the fate of the Roe decision is a rallying cry on the campaign trail for either Democrats or Republicans. The two parties have staked out opposite positions, but their candidates rarely mention them when campaigning.

The abortion issue is enormously important to the base of both parties, political strategists say, but it is a touchy and difficult matter to raise with an audience of swing voters and those who are undecided.

Senator Biden Told Some Whoppers


Dear Friends,

Last night Senator Biden told some whoppers. His biggest was also inexplicable. He went out of his way to justify his conduct on judicial nominations. In doing so he said something that was simply not true. I know it because in 2002 his staff memos showed that Biden was being pressured to change his standard to accommodate the obstruction plan being pushed on Judiciary Committee Democrats by left-wing special interest lobbyists. Biden had never indicated that ideology was a factor for him prior to his vote in Committee against Priscilla Owen of Texas in 2002. In fact, Orrin Hatch expressly called him out on his "standard" at that time.

IFILL: Final question tonight, before your closing statements, starting with you, Sen. Biden. Can you think of a single issue -- and this is to cast light for people who are just trying to get to know you in your final debate, your only debate of this year -- can you think of a single issue, policy issue, in which you were forced to change a long-held view in order to accommodate changed circumstances?

BIDEN: Yes, I can. When I got to the United States Senate and went on the Judiciary Committee as a young lawyer, I was of the view and had been trained in the view that the only thing that mattered was whether or not a nominee appointed, suggested by the president had a judicial temperament, had not committed a crime of moral turpitude, and was -- had been a good student.

And it didn't take me long -- it was hard to change, but it didn't take me long, but it took about five years for me to realize that the ideology of that judge makes a big difference.

That's why I led the fight against Judge Bork. Had he been on the court, I suspect there would be a lot of changes that I don't like and the American people wouldn't like, including everything from Roe v. Wade to issues relating to civil rights and civil liberties.

And so that -- that -- that was one of the intellectual changes that took place in my career as I got a close look at it. And that's why I was the first chairman of the Judiciary Committee to forthrightly state that it matters what your judicial philosophy is. The American people have a right to understand it and to know it.

But I did change on that, and -- and I'm glad I did.

It is ironical that Biden brought up his record on judicial nominations. I suspect he did so because he was expecting Governor Palin to do so and he had a practiced response.

It was a shame she did not. Joe Biden probably came to the Senate in 1972 to bring change. And he did. He made things worse. Succumbing to outside groups, Biden presided over the most toxic Judiciary Committee hearings in memory, and encouraged the destructiveness that would come later.

Palin might also have pointed out that Biden's prized legislative accomplishment, the Violence Against Women Act, was mostly struck down by the courts as an unconstitutional overreach.

Palin might also have held Biden responsible for failing to give the State Department any oversight for its gross negligence in Iraq and leaving hundreds of millions of pivotal nation-building funds unspent, but I digress.

Senator Biden’s Standard: No Ideological Test

 As Senator Biden explained in an April 19, 1994 floor speech, the Senate should consider three factors when deciding whether to confirm a nominee to a lower court. If candidates meet the three criteria, “they should be given an opportunity to fulfill [sic] the seat for which they have been named.”

 Nominees must have “the capacity, competence, and temperament to be on the court of appeals or a trial court.”

 Second, nominees must be “of good character” and “free of conflict of interest.”

 Third, nominees must “faithfully apply the Constitution and the precedents of the Supreme Court.”

 Senator Biden reiterated his standard on May 23, 2002, when he voted to favorably recommend to the full Senate the nomination of Judge D. Brooks Smith (a Third Circuit nominee). Senator Biden indicated that he was supporting Judge Smith because of his commitment to applying U.S. Supreme Court precedent.

 “If I had believed that the lower court nominee would abide by the precedents of the Supreme Court and their circuit, even though I knew I disagreed with them philosophically, I would vote for them.”

 “I find I would gave to apply a double standard, and I would like to vote against this fellow. . . . But unless I begin to change the standard, which it is sort of late in the game to do, I don’t have a sufficient reason to vote against Judge Smith, in large part because of what I do and what we all do on every nominee.”

 Senator Biden consistently has rejected the use of ideological litmus tests for lower-court nominees.

 “[A key consideration is] whether the nominee lacks the requisite temperament for appointment to the important life-tenured position of the appeals court.” [Nov. 7, 1985]

 “Candor and forthrightness are measures of a nominee’s temperament which is an important prerequisite for a judge. . . . For a nominee, testifying under oath, before a Senate committee has an obligation, not unlike the obligation of a judge writing a judicial opinion, to present fully all the facts regardless of whether they are perceived to be favorable.” [Nov. 7, 1985]

 “I believe judgment and temperament to be essential qualities in evaluating a nominee for [the] position [of a federal judge].” [Mar. 18, 1986]

 “It is imperative [not to] compromise the public perception that judges and courts are a forum for the fair, unbiased, and impartial adjudication of disputes.” [Mar. 18, 1986]

WASHINGTON, DC-U.S. Congressman Mike Pence released the following statement, announcing his opposition to the revised bailout bill, which is set to be considered by the House today.

"Our nation is confronted by a serious financial crisis. It is a crisis of confidence in our financial markets and a crisis of confidence in this government. While many are anxious about how we will confront this crisis, as I saw on the faces of my constituents this week, many more approach this moment with faith, not fear.

"We will get through this. We have confronted much greater challenges than this and I am confident we will restore our markets and renew our government. But we must do so in a manner consistent with the principles that make America great.

"The President and Congress were right to act with all deliberate speed and I am confident that the members in this House are motivated by what they believe to be in the best interests of the American people.

"It must be said that Republican leaders and my colleagues in the House worked hard to improve this bill from the outset. House Republicans slowed down this process long enough to remove outrageous subsidies for liberal activists and trial lawyers and managed to include an optional insurance program.

"And because of the principled stand taken by House Republicans last Monday, the bank deposits of Americans are safer and the balance sheet of their local bank is more secure. Americans will see their bank deposit insurance rise from $100,000 to $250,000, and banks will now be able to value assets much closer to fair market value, increasing their capital and their ability to make credit available to working families, small businesses and family farms.

"But even with these important improvements, this legislation remains the largest corporate bailout in American history, forever changes the relationship between government and the financial sector and passes the cost along to the American people.

"I did not come to Washington to expand the size and scope of government.

"I did not come to Washington to ask working Americans to subsidize the bad decisions of corporate America.

"Therefore, I cannot support the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008.

"While this bill promises to bring near-term stability to our financial turmoil, I ask my countrymen, at what price?

"The decision to give the federal government the ability to nationalize almost every bad mortgage in America interrupts a basic truth of our free market economy.

"Government cannot control outcomes in the economy without eroding the independence and integrity of our free market system. When the government chooses winners and losers in the market, every American loses.

"This Congress will choose whether we will confront this crisis by elevating the individual and personal responsibility or by elevating the role of the state in our financial markets and our daily lives.

"Some say that this crisis is too acute to rely on antiquated notions about the role of government in the private sector, but I disagree. I believe the principles of limited government, free enterprise and representative democracy are as relevant today as they were in 1776.

"In another October - 1964 - Ronald Reagan addressed the American people about a 'time for choosing' not much different than today. He said their choice was, 'whether we believe in our capacity for self-government or whether we abandon the American Revolution and
confess that a little intellectual elite in a far-distant capital can plan our lives for us better than we can plan them ourselves.'

"There are no easy answers, but the American people deserve to know there were alternatives to massive federal spending.

"The House Republican alternative would have set up an FDIC-style mandatory insurance program in which Wall Street firms would have paid to insure their mortgage-backed securities. Doing so would have made Wall Street instead of Main Street pay the cost of this rescue. And while there is an option for an insurance plan in this bill, it falls far short of the substitute that Republicans desired.

"The House Republican alternative would also have injected liquidity into our markets through fast-acting tax strategies, releasing the economic power inherent in the American economy. Temporarily reducing the repatriation tax, as we did in 2004, would have brought hundreds of billions of dollars back into this economy. House conservatives also promoted reducing the individual and corporate capital gains tax. And, there were other business deductions that would help the financial sector get back on its feet.

"Should the current legislation pass and our economy continue to struggle, I remain hopeful that this Congress will turn to these and other proven remedies based on our free enterprise system and belief in limited government.

"President Theodore Roosevelt said, 'An American... must face life with resolute courage, win victory if he can and accept defeat if he must, without seeking to place on his fellow man a responsibility which is not theirs.'

"With this bill we place upon the American public a responsibility which is not theirs: bailing out financial institutions after they made irresponsible business decisions. This we should not do.

"Instead we should confront this crisis with resolute courage and faith in God and the principles of freedom and free enterprise. I urge my colleagues to oppose the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008."

Women's Shelter Cuts Bernhard After Gang-Rape Line


BOSTON (AP) - A women's shelter on Wednesday cut headliner Sandra Bernhard from its annual benefit after she said Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin would be gang-raped if she ever visited New York.

Bernhard's made the remarks last month during her one-woman show in Washington before Palin visited New York to campaign. Bernhard said Palin would be "gang-raped by my big black brothers" during a diatribe in which she also criticized Palin for opposing abortion rights.

Many guests at Rosie's Place, a Boston shelter, have been victims of violence, public relations director Leemarie Mosca said.

"In light of our mission, we don't think violence against women is a laughing matter," she said.

Mosca said the shelter expected to book a replacement before the Oct. 16 luncheon "Funny Women ... Serious Business."

"Right now, our main focus is our event and making sure the event is a success," Mosca said. "And for us, that means not including Sandra Bernhard at this time."

A representative for Bernhard had no immediate comment on the cancellation.

In a statement on her Web site, Bernhard said the gang-rape comment was part of a larger piece from her show about "racism, freedom, women's rights, and the extreme views of Gov. Sarah Palin - a woman who doesn't believe that other women should have the right to choose."

"I certainly wish Gov. Palin no harm - I'd just like her to explain to me how she can hold such outrageous views ... and then go back to Alaska," she said.

Gwen Ifill: Ethically Challenged

The moderator of tomorrow's vice-presidential debate is writing a book to come out on the day the next president takes the oath of office that aims to "shed new light" on Democratic candidate Barack Obama and other "emerging young African American politicians" who are "forging a bold new path to political power."

Gwen Ifill of the Public Broadcasting Service program "Washington Week" is promoting "The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama," in which she argues the "black political structure" of the civil rights movement is giving way to men and women who have benefited from the struggles over racial equality.

Ifill declined to return a WND telephone message asking for a comment about her book project and whether its success would be expected should Obama lose. But she has faced criticism previously for not treating candidates of both major parties the same.

During a vice-presidential candidate debate she moderated in 2004 – when Democrat John Edwards attacked Republican Dick Cheney's former employer, Halliburton – the vice president said, "I can respond, Gwen, but it's going to take more than 30 seconds."

"Well, that's all you've got," she told Cheney.

Ifill told the Associated Press Democrats were delighted with her answer, because they "thought I was being snippy to Cheney." She explained that wasn't her intent.

But she also was cited in complaints PBS Ombudsman Michael Getler said he received after Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin delivered her nomination acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn., earlier this month.

Some viewers complained of a "dismissive" look by Ifill during her report on Palin's speech. According to Getler, some also said she wore a look of "disgust" while reporting on the Republican candidate.

Washington, D.C. (1 October 2008) – The proposed Emergency Economic
Stabilization Act of 2008 is all about making changes in matters that have
major impact on the U.S. economy. As members of Congress work on this
legislation, American Life League is asking that they make one very
fundamental change.

"We are calling on Congress to ensure that Planned Parenthood Federation
of America and its affiliates do not wind up with windfall profits from
this Act," said Jim Sedlak, president of American Life League.

"In the past," said Sedlak, "Planned Parenthood has been very adept at
exploiting large bills such as this to obtain more money for its coffers.
It took in $336.7 million in taxpayer funding last year and is crying for
more. We are asking members of Congress to add the following 18 words to
this Act:

"None of the funds made available under this Act shall be available to
Planned Parenthood for any purpose.

"As Planned Parenthood comes under increasing scrutiny for its financial
dealings with the government," Sedlak continued, "it only makes sense to be
cautious and make sure that none of the $700 billion in this Act will reach
the organization in any way. This is a common-sense addendum to the Act,
and we trust members of Congress will do the right thing."

Please, call your Senators and Representatives NOW and ask that they
ensure Planned Parenthood does not profit from our economic crisis. Demand

American Life League Calls For State-By-State Investigation Of Planned Parenthood


Washington, D.C. (1 October 2008) – In May of this year, American Life
League obtained, through a Freedom of Information request, copies of the
California Department of Health Services 2004 audit of Planned Parenthood
of San Diego and Riverside Counties. This audit shows that one Planned
Parenthood affiliate overcharged the state of California $5.2 million in a
single year.

ALL has been circulating the audit document to members of Congress and is
pleased to note that Planned Parenthood is under fire from members of
Congress who are calling for a federal fraud investigation. American Life
League has sent letters to every state attorneys general asking for an
investigation of Planned Parenthood in every state. In addition, the
Gerard Foundation is pressing for a full Congressional investigation.

"All evidence shows Planned Parenthood is robbing the American taxpayer,"
said Jim Sedlak, vice-president of American Life League. "They're asking
the American people to fund their contraceptive and abortion products, and
then pulling in the profit hand over fist."

Planned Parenthood receives funding through many government programs,
including the Title X Family Planning program and Medicaid. The Medicaid
program funds up to 90 percent of contraceptive costs (such as the birth
control pill) provided to eligible recipients. Planned Parenthood buys the
birth control pill at deeply reduced prices from drug manufacturers and
state regulations generally requires it to bill Medicaid at cost.

The California audit shows the Planned Parenthood affiliates were billing
based on their normal retail fee. The San Diego affiliate alone
overcharged the government by $5.2 million. This is a direct violation of
the law.

In March 2008, the Los Angeles Times publicized a lawsuit by former
Planned Parenthood official, P. Victor Gonzales against Planned Parenthood
of Los Angeles. Gonzalez alleges he was fired in 2004 after he raised
concerns about the "illegal accounting, billing and donations practices of
Planned Parenthood."

In his lawsuit, Gonzales alleges Planned Parenthood affiliates across the
state may have overcharged the government $180 million between 1997 and

"Clearly something is wrong," said Sedlak. "If what is going on in
California is happening at Planned Parenthood affiliates around the
country, the American people have been swindled out of millions if not
billions of dollars. American Life League calls for an immediate and
thorough investigation at the state and federal level."

Barack Obama to officially recognize our military's progress in Iraq,

highlighted Sen. Obama's vote against emergency funding for our troops

committed these kinds of resources to any single state.
